Soil & Water Stewardship Week
In recognition of the importance and value of the conservation programs administered by New Jersey's conservation parters, Governor Murphy has proclaimed the week of April 25 through May 2, 2021 as Soil And Water Stewardship Week in New Jersey. We urge citizens to help protect our environment through the wise use of soil and water resources and to support the resource management programs of our conservation districts and the many volunteers and professionals who dedicate their time and talents to this worthy cause.

USDA Announces New NJ State Conservationist
SOMERSET, NJ, July 13, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has selected Julie Hawkins to serve as State Conservationist for New Jersey. As State Conservationist, Hawkins will oversee the federal agency’s programs, operations, and staff in the Garden State. She begins her new position on July 19.

2020 NJ Conservation Poster Contest Completes Successfully
Rachel Ou of Bridgewater-Raritan High School is declared Grand Champion of the 2020 New Jersey Conservation Poster Contest. Rachel won first place for Grades 10-12 in the state level contest.
The poster contest starts at the District level and is generally conducted in person. Winners from each District go on to compete at the state level. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing, the state level competition, as well as some Districts, utilized online or remote voting which allowed the contest to complete successfully.
